Where Does Financial Coaching Funding Come From?
Financial coaching can be funded through different areas of your NDIS plan. The right category depends on your individual goals, how your plan is written, and the outcomes the support is working towards.
At Empower Your Budget, we help you understand where your support may fit and how it aligns with your plan.
Capacity Building – Increased Social & Community Participation
This is the most common funding category for coaching supports.
It is designed to build your independence and confidence so you can participate more fully in your community. Mentoring that focuses on developing practical life skills, confidence, and decision-making often sits here.
Relevant line items may include supports focused on:
Individual skill development
Life skills training
Building independence in community settings
Core – Assistance with Social & Community Participation
In some circumstances, coaching may be funded under Core supports.
This generally applies when the support is centred around helping you engage in everyday activities, increase social inclusion, or build confidence in community participation.
Core funding is more flexible, however it must still align clearly with the goals outlined in your plan.
Capacity Building – Improved Daily Living
Coaching is focused on strengthening daily living skills — such as organisation, routines, cooking, time management, or practical independence — it may fall under Improved Daily Living.
This category is often associated with therapy supports, but non-clinical mentoring can also be funded here when it directly links to skill development and measurable outcomes.
